Although the Adam I was not up to the standards of the current market, Notion Ink have confirmed that they would be developing Adam II. Equipped with Android 4.0, an OMAP44xx processor, Wi-Link 7.0, and audio parts.

Notion Ink would also be releasing what it calls a “Modular Based Software Architecture” which would basically be able to facilitate in the drag-and-drop application development. The company claims this would enable humans to create, “logic analyzer, media imaging [...], 3D modeling, and multi-media” apps.

It would be interesting to see if this can take the market share from giants like iPad and others.

Wikipedia has officially announced its app to released on android platform. Previously this app was unavailable on Android OS and only iOS users could enjoy the access to limitless information from one of the most authentic sources in the world.

The app allows user to read any article in almost any language of the world. The app is more over capable of remembering the history for a stealthy future reference. However, the seemingly most important part is the saved pages where a user is allowed to save any given article on wikipedia onto the memory for offline use. Also it carries the ability to bookmark pages and the ‘Nearby’ button gives search results for the entries located near the point of access of the app. Share is also one of the added android features. Though being just a week old, this app is hitting big on android market, making its way up to the top downloads.

You can download the app through the Link.

A fine start for Datawind this year with getting over 1.2 million pre-orders for its $45 Akash tablet, amazingly in just 2 weeks. The tablet market saw an increasing boost with a launch of Nook, Kindle fire, Ipad 2 and many more. It is at such a crucial time Datawind stepped in and introduced its Akash tablet; the cheapest tablet pc in market. Datawind reports to have been receiving so magnanimous orders that it has decided to open up two more factories to speed up production. The tablet features Android Froyo 2.2 OS interface with a 2GB SD memory card, 256 MB ram and a 7” display. CEO Datawind Sunit Singh Tuli says he’s really amazed to see such a great response from both corporate and private sector.

Google Maps has already been a thriving navigation paraphernalia for users who are able to find their location as well as of any other place in the world. Unfortunately, when a person was inside a huge Mall lost in the labyrinth of unknown twist and turns, Google Maps did not hold good there. Now with the release of Google Maps 6.0 for Android users, the ‘My Location’ feature has been added which shows your indoor location.

Instead of asking your way from a receptionist or a passerby, you could just use Google Maps My Location which would show you as a blue dot. It also displays some additional details as places, landmarks and geographical features which show you your surroundings and the happenings.

It shows the complete floor plan: you can see the floor you are standing upon, where you are moving inside, to which place nearby you could go and share your location. 3D tilting of buildings is also present. You could zoom in and out on a building whose inside map is available.

For now, this service available in US and Japan for about 60 stores, airports and stations. This is just the beginning and Google is increasing the number indoor plans to public buildings across the world.

Google Maps app is compatible with smartphones and tablets running Android 2.1 or later. You can download the latest Google Maps 6.0 for Android from here.
