Verizon announced the OTA Froyo update for Droid Incredible on 27 August. The update is currently rolling out in phases. If you haven’t received the OTA yet then here is a good news for you that you can install the Official update manually. The Froyo update will bring numerous improvements to your Droid Incredible which includes Flash Player 10.1, 720p video recording, Wi-Fi 802.11n support, 3G mobile hotspot, and more. This is the same file as you would get if you just waited for your turn, and you’ll have the exact same Froyo as everyone else, so no need to worry.

Follow the steps below to install the Official Froyo update:

Download the Official OTA file from here.

Make sure it’s named update.zip

Copy it to the root (base directory) of your SD card. Don’t put it in any folders, and don’t put it on the internal memory.

Switch off your phone.

While holding the volume down button, turn the phone back on.

In the white Bootloader screen, select recovery from the list.

In the recovery screen (the triangle with exclamation mark), press volume up and power. You’ll go to the recovery menu.

In the recovery menu, select “apply sdcard:update.zip”

The phone will find the file, and when finished prompt you to reboot. Reboot via the menu, then patiently wait for the phone to reboot.

Enjoy the Froyo on your Droid Incredible.
