Google’s desktop web browser Chrome 11 is now in beta stage. It now includes a unique feature that is not found in other web browsers i.e it now has speech-to-text capabilities. Google has added an HTML5 Speech Input API that will allow Chrome users to talk to their computers just like they do in Google apps on mobile devices for Android and iOS. Google has added the HTML5 API into Chrome so third party developers will also be able to take advantage of this cool feature. Chrome 11 also brings a new icon (pictured above) to the browser.

YouTube5 is a Flash killer extension for Google Chrome and Safari which converts all the YouTube videos to HTML5 to save the CPU cycles. So if you don’t want to install the Adobe Flash just install the YouTube5 extension on your Google Chrome or Safari browser and enjoy the videos with the future HTML5 technology.

You can also switch to HTML5 videos by visiting youtube.com/html5 but that will require a persistent cookie or sign-in to stay active. So this extension is better until the HTML5 is under development.

Yesterday Microsoft released the first beta of Internet Explorer 9. The new IE brought a cleaner and simple UI with fast browsing. Internet Explorer 9 is amazingly faster than its previous editions but still slower than Google Chrome. But we can not take it as a final decision as Internet Explorer 9 is in the beta testing stage.

Here are the different tests between Internet Explorer 9 Beta, Google Chrome and Firefox:

FishTank Test:

In FishTank test Internet Explorer 9 Beta scores high. IE 9 Beta remained at 60FPS with 20 fish, Google Chrome 7 at 40FPS whereas Firefox 4 Beta 6 at 30FPS.

Acid3 Test:

In ACID3 test Google Chrome 7 tops with 100/100, Firefox 4 Beta 6 scores 97/100 whereas Internet Explorer 9 Beta got 95/100.
