iH8sn0w has released the Sn0wbreeze 2.2 which allows Windows users to create custom iOS 4.2.1 files. Sn0wbreeze is the Windows port of PwnageTool. Using Sn0wbreeze 2.2 you can update your iPhone 4, 3GS or 3G to pre-jailbreaked iOS 4.2.1 without upgrading to the new baseband so that you can unlock your iPhone with ultrasn0w.

Note: Mac users can download PwnageTool 4.2 from here to update to iOS 4.2.1 without upgrading baseband.

PwnageTool 4.2 uses the greenpois0n‘s exploit to untether jailbreak your iOS 4.2.1 device. PwnageTool is best for those who rely on the ultrasn0w unlock, means if you are having an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.0 or 4.0.1 then you can upgrade to iOS 4.2.1 while preserving your baseband.

As I reported Chronic Dev-Team has released the Greenpois0n iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak for Mac and Windows. So if you are ready to enjoy the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 (or iOS 4.2.6 on Verizon iPhone 4) just follow the step-by-step guide posted below.

Note 1: All the steps are same on both Mac and Windows so Mac users can also jailbreak their iOS devices by following the guide below.

1. Download iOS 4.2.1 according to iDevice you owned (Update).

• iOS 4.2.1 for iPod touch 2G

• iOS 4.2.1 for iPhone 3G

2. If your device isn’t running iOS 4.2.1 then update to iOS 4.2.1 using iTunes (iPhone 4 unlockers must stay away).

3. Download Greenpois0n for Mac or Windows from here or here. Update 1: Download latest Greenpois0n builds (Mac) (Windows). Update 2: Download the latest greenpois0n RC5 b4 (supports Verizon iPhone 4 jailbreak) for (Mac) or (Windows). Update 3: Download the latest Greenpois0n RC6 for Windows or Mac from here.

4. Extract the folder to access the Greenpois0n jailbreak tool.

5. Connect your iOS device to PC or Mac and turn it off.

6. Run Greenpois0n.

7. Make sure your device is connected to computer and powered off. Now click the Prepare to Jailbreak (DFU) button.

8. Get yourself ready to put your iOS device into DFU mode. Just follow the on-screen instructions.

• Press and hold the Sleep/Power (located at top right) button for 2 seconds.

• Keep holding the Sleep/Power button and press Home button (located at bottom center) for 10 seconds.

• Now release the Sleep/Power button while keep holding the Home button for about 15 seconds. (greenpois0n may detect your device before the 15 seconds)

9. If you have successfully put the iOS device into DFU mode (else repeat from step 6) then greenpois0n will say “Ready to Jailbreak” and a Jailbreak! button will appear as shown below.

10. Click the Jailbreak! button and wait for a few moments to let greenpois0n jailbreak your device.(During this process your device’s screen will flash and then a command type coding will appear, be patient and let it work).

11. Once jailbreak is done greenpois0n will say “Jailbreak Complete!” and a Quit button will appear. Now you can close the greenpois0n from your computer.

12. When your iOS device restarts you’ll see a new “Loader” app on your Home screen. Tap the icon to launch it.

13. Inside Loader.app tap the Cydia icon to install Cydia.

14. When Cydia installation will be finished, you can remove Loader from your device by pressing options button (located at top left corner) and then select Remove Loader.app. Now reboot your iOS device.

15. Enjoy the untethered jailbreak! Thanks to Chronic Dev-Team for making it possible.

As I reported Apple has released iOS 4.3 beta to developers. iOS 4.3 beta comes with a lot of improvements and some new features like Personal Hotspot, muliti-touch gestures for iPad and more. Now I am going to write about all the new features included in iOS 4.3 beta at one place so that you can easily know about them.

1. Personal Hotspot feature:

iOS 4.3 beta packs Personal Hotspot option which was first seen in Verizon iPhone 4 running iOS 4.2.5. This feature allows you to connect up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices with your iPhone. It may not be available worldwide as it needs special carrier support.

2. Goodbye iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G:

With iOS 4.3 beta Apple has dropped the support for iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G due to their low hardware specs and poor performance with iOS 4.

3. AirPlay support for 3rd Party and web apps:

iOS 4.3 beta brings AirPlay support to the 3rd-Party and web apps. For those who don’t know AirPlay allows you to wirelessly stream music and videos throughout your entire house.

4. New multitasking gestures for iPad (probably to kill home button):

Apple has introduced new multitasking gestures for iPad. You can use your four or five fingers to:

• Pinch to the home screen.
• Swipe up to reveal multitasking bar.
• Swipe left or right to switch between apps.

These all gestures hints that Apple might remove the Home button from the next-generations of iPad and iPhone too.

Update: According to iOS 4.3 beta 2 notes multi-touch gestures for iPad won’t be enabled in the public release of iOS 4.3.

This feature will not be enabled in iOS 4.3 for customers, but we are providing this preview to gather input on how these gestures work with your apps.

5. New font for iPad’s Notes.app:

iOS 4.3 beta adds a new font named Noteworthy to the iPad’s Notes.app.

6. The option to play alert tones:

iOS 4.3 beta also adds Play Alert tone option which plays alert tones according to your selected option from one to 10 times.

7. New icon for FaceTime.app:

FaceTime icon has been updated to look similar to the Mac’s one.

8. “Use side switch to” option for iPad:

iOS 4.3 adds an option to allow iPad users to configure side switch button. They can now decide whether to use the side switch button to mute the iPad or to Lock the Rotation of Springboard and apps.

9. Hints at new iPhone and iPad models:

After digging the iOS code Engadget has got hints of two upcoming iPhone models (4,1 and 4,2) and three iPad models (2,1; 2,2; and 2,3) probably one CDMA for Verizon, one 3G+Wi-Fi model and a Wi-Fi only model.

10. Hint of upcoming ‘Find My Friends’ MobileMe feature:

iOS 4.3 beta revealed ‘Find My Friends’ feature for Apple’s MobileMe service.

11. Full Screen iAd banners:

The latest iOS build also includes support for bigger full screen iAd banners for iPad.

12. New camera effects:

iSpazio has uncovered some new camera effects in the latest iOS SDK which are similar to the video effects used in iPod Nano 5G. List of the new camera effects is given below:

A good news for jailbreakers. MuscleNerd has just tweeted that Dev-Team has successfully uthethered the iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak for all iOS devices. No new exploit is burned for this purpose. Its a great news for those having iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G and iPad. You will be able to boot untethered now. No need to connect to your computer on every reboot. No ETA is given about the release untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak. We will update you as we recieve more details.

A great news for ultrasn0w unlockers. @sbingner has made a great hacktivation (unlock) tool called Subscriber Artificial Module (SAM) which allows you to legitimately activate your iPhone using iTunes even though you’re unlocked with ultrasn0w. This hack fixes the push notifications and battery drainage issues which means you get the full benefit of push applications, and your battery life increases.

Follow the steps below to install SAM:

• Jailbreak iOS 4.1/4.2.1  using the redsn0w 0.9.6b6 (download for Windows or Mac) by following the guide posted here.
• Once jailbreak is done. Run Cydia from your iPhone.
• Tap the Manage tab and select Sources.
• Now tap the Edit button at the top and then click Add.
• Now add this repo http://repo.bingner.com
• Install SAM and SAMPrefs
• Run the redsn0w 0.9.6b6 (downloaded in the first step) again and from the options menu select Deactivate (don’t select other options this time).

• Now Go to Settings > SAM and tap De-Activate iPhone
• Connect your iPhone to computer and activate it with iTunes. When done a message will appear on your iPhone saying iPhone is activated.
• Now use ultrasn0w (how-to guide posted here) to unlock your iPhone to be used with any carrier of the world.
• Enjoy!

Note: If iTunes says invalid SIM, go to iPhone’s Settings > SAM and manually select the appropriate carrier under one of the methods besides “Automatic” and click on a SIMID.
