Hackers at xda-forums have successfully rooted the Motorola Droid 2 only after two weeks of its release. Rooting your Droid 2 will give you full control over device. You will be able to alter system files, install themes, run special Apps, install different ROMs etc. The initial rooting guide is bit complicated, but I hope that One-click root for Droid 2 will be available soon. News about the Official Froyo update for Droid X are circulating the web. Now Froyo update for Motorola Droid X is leaked and available for download. All Motorola Droid X users can install the leaked update easily by following the simple steps. Droid X was suffering from many bugs and we hope that this update will fix out all the bugs.

Note: Rooting may void your warranty. I am not responsible for bricked phones so install the leaked update on your own risk.

Follow the steps below to install the Froyo update on your Droid X:

• Download the update.zip from here and copy it to the root of your SD card (Not in a folder).
• Turn off your phone.
• Boot into recovery by holding the Home key and Power at the same time.
• When a triangle with exclamation mark appears, release buttons and press the Search key once.
• Using the  volume up/down switch, scroll down to “apply sdcard:update.zip.”
• Once highlighted, press the camera button to apply the update.zip.
• Your phone will work some magic and if finished correctly will say “Successful.”
• Scroll back up to “Reboot system.”
• Enjoy the Froyo treat.

Update: If you are facing installation aborted error “logwrapper” then follow the steps below to fix it.

1. Open Root Explorer
2. Go to the System folder
3. Go to the Bin folder
4. Tap the button in the upper right corner to mount RW (This lets you edit files in there)
5. Scroll down and find the file called hijack, long press and delete it.
6. Scroll down to the file named logwrapper, longpress and delete it.
7. Directly underneath that is a file named logwrapper.bin, long press and RENAME it to just logwrapper (so take off the .bin at the end)
8. Tap the button in the upper right to mount as RO again
9. Reboot into recovery and apply the update!

Verizon has released the most awaited Motorola Droid 2, the successor of the Motorola Droid 1. Droid 1 was a successful phone and the one to bring Android up of all the other mobile platforms. The main changes in the Droid 2 are the processor and the RAM which are almost double than the Droid 1, all other features are almost similar.

After the announcement from Verizon Wireless, Droid 2 is now live at Motorola’s Official website.  Checkout the official specs, pictures, 360° view and much more about the Droid 2 before buying the phone. According to Verizon Wireless Motorola Droid 2 pre-orders will start from tomorrow and phone will go on sale by the day after tomorrow.

Finally Verizon has announced the details of Motorola Droid 2. According to Official announcement Pre-orders will start by tommorrow and it will go on sale at Verizon Stores from Thursday August 12, the same day which was seen in leaked documents. The phone will cost you $199.99 with a two year contract. R2-D2 version of Droid 2 will be available in September.  A comparison of Droid 2 with iPhone 4 can be found here. Droid 2 comes with a 3.7-inch touch-screen, full Physical QWERTY Keyboard, Android Froyo,5-MP camera and a 1GHz processor with dedicated GPU.

Some days ago an image was leaked showing the time-line for the launch of Motorola Droid 2. Now another leaked document from Best Buy suggesting that Droid 2 will be available on 12th of August. Still no announcement from Verizon about the Official launch date of Droid 2 has been made. Best Buy is advised not to sell the phone before August 12, that tells that they already have Droid 2 in stock.
