Taking a decision about a new thing is not a big problem now, at least for iPhone users. Ex Google Employees have released an application Stamped for Apple which helps rather guides people with the help of recommendations of the user’s friends. It is similar to the Google +1 feature but seems much better.

The app is free and available for download for iPhone and is soon coming to other smartphones and desktop users. When a user downloads the app, he is given 100 stamps. These stamps are used for recommendations. You can bring in your contacts from your phone and even your friends from Facebook and Twitter. They could see your recommendation of a particular thing and you could see theirs. Recommendations could be liked and if they like your recommendation, you get 2 additional stamps to go on.

For searching, you could browse through various categories such as books, music, hotels, movies, hospitals and much more. Searching with respect to location is present there too. You could also browse by entering your search query. A to-do list is available to save the results and recommendations.

Hitlantis is a free personalized Internet radio service which has been attracting users due to its unique features. This multi option music platform has now released it’s Android Client for users to access the web service from their mobile devices.

The main user interface opens up displaying a beautiful map of candy bar colored bubbles. Each color represents the genre and every bubble represents an artist. The relative sizes of the bubbles are according to the popularity and listener ship of that artist. By hovering over the bubbles, user can see all the details of that artist or band and could also zoom in and out.

Search for the songs could be done through the artist or band name and genres. All the genres display the number of bands registered under it. The user can share tracks in the music player with his friends. Items could be added to the favorite and starred list and comments could be posted.

Google has taken yet another gigantic step in its bid of taking everything virtually into the cloud. With the growing rivalry with Apple Inc., Google has now come out to compete with one of the most successful projects of Apple, namely iTunes. Music is the passion of people of every age belonging to every area. But listening to music in a more organized, efficient, inexpensive manner and according to one’s taste and liking has never been so simple before. With the launch of Google Music, a new era has been marked in the world of music.

Google Music is a facility which provides the user a platform to store, listen, organize, search and shop music. You can avail it with signing in to Google Music with your Google account. All you need to do is to download the Music Manager for your PC, after that you will be able to upload the music stuff from your PC directly into your cloud library. You will be able to download Music Manager for Windows/Mac/Linux when you logged in to Google Music for the first time. Following are some of the features of Google Music:

1. Google Music Allows you to upload your songs free of cost without any subscription charges. You are given the opportunity to upload as many as 20,000 songs. In the Music Manager, you could add folders from which songs get uploaded to the cloud. So when you will add a new song to that folder, it instantly gets uploaded to your Google Music library. After that you will be able to access your music library from anywhere on any device.

4. The amazing thing about Google Music is the quality of music playback. There occurs absolutely no change in the music quality with uploading and it plays online as if it is on your own PC or iPod. You could pause the music any time and start from any position of the track.
5. Google Music has provided the users with free and paid songs to choose from 13 million in number. Click on the more button on the top right and select free songs from the drop down menu. You would be redirected to another page where you could the hottest free songs in the market. You could search from the categories of Rock, Country and Pop/Hip Pop. As you listen to the songs, the similar artists appear on the left hand side of the page. It gives you recommendations observing from which songs you listen.
   

   

6. To buy songs, click on shop songs at the top. You would arrive at the Android Market Page and could either directly put in your choice or search from the list of genre. Music from different parts of the world is also available there. The songs you buy would automatically get added to your library and could be downloaded twice from there. For payment, you need to add a payment method to Google Wallet during checkout. Payment could be done via Discover, Master Card, American Express, Visa and Visa Electron.

   

7. Android users can share their favorite songs on Google+. Just right click on the song and choose the option of sharing.
8. For Android users again, the facility of offline playback is given in the Music app. The songs you check as available for offline playback would automatically be downloaded on your smart phone. You could always listen to them even if you are unable to connect to the Internet.
   
9.  The feature which would eventually change the method of distribution of music from the musician’s ends is Google Music Artist Hub. The Artist Hub allows the independent musicians to reach the fans and customers directly and share their works for free or sell out their releases at a price of their choice pocketing 70% of the sales price. Without a middle man, the indie bands would be selling at a much lower price than usual. Only once, the musicians have to pay $25 to Google Music and afterwards they could get always get their full share. Moreover Google has also said that very soon, the indie artists could also utilize the largest video sharing site YouTube to sell their music directly there.

Google Music vs iTunes:

The rivalry is big with iTunes. Both are ahead of each other in one way or the other. The market has been captured by iTunes and Google would have to snatch it away from them with gargantuan efforts and strategies. iTunes does not allow everybody to upload the music directly from their PC’s. Only users of an iOS device such as the iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch or OS X can use the iTunes Match service on the computers registered with their devices. The service notes the songs existing on the PC and then finds a match in the iTunes Music Store.

Unfortunately iTunes Match subscription costs $25 a year and Jamie Rosenberg, Google’s director of digital content for Android mentioned it at the launch of Google Music: “Other cloud music services think you have to pay to listen to music you already own. We don’t”.

Problems:

Some problems and limitations are associated with Google Music for the time being. The first is that it is available only in the US only. The problem is big and the reason is that the labels in the US with which Google has made deals with do not work in UK or Canada and vice versa. So Google thought of trying out the project at the home ground US, but nevertheless, it is working strategies day in and day out for its global scope and use.

Another thing which might affect some users is that the music tracks present in a music folder of the PC get uploaded all in one go. This process may slow down the PC resources and takes a long time until the items get uploaded. The option of choosing the songs one by one to upload is not included yet.
