Google Maps has already been a thriving navigation paraphernalia for users who are able to find their location as well as of any other place in the world. Unfortunately, when a person was inside a huge Mall lost in the labyrinth of unknown twist and turns, Google Maps did not hold good there. Now with the release of Google Maps 6.0 for Android users, the ‘My Location’ feature has been added which shows your indoor location.

Instead of asking your way from a receptionist or a passerby, you could just use Google Maps My Location which would show you as a blue dot. It also displays some additional details as places, landmarks and geographical features which show you your surroundings and the happenings.

It shows the complete floor plan: you can see the floor you are standing upon, where you are moving inside, to which place nearby you could go and share your location. 3D tilting of buildings is also present. You could zoom in and out on a building whose inside map is available.

Mall of America in Minneapolis before and after, with a floor selector

For now, this service available in US and Japan for about 60 stores, airports and stations. This is just the beginning and Google is increasing the number indoor plans to public buildings across the world.

Google Maps app is compatible with smartphones and tablets running Android 2.1 or later. You can download the latest Google Maps 6.0 for Android from here.

Isn’t that the dream? Well it just might come true in a few months when Facebook launches it’s very own phone. Although it is thought to be a rumor at the moment, the reports started surfacing again. The suggested phone’s name is “Buffy”, named after the television series, “Buffy – The Vampire Slayer”. According to reports, Facebook has allied with HTC to design the hardware for the phone while it might go on similar paths as the rest of the smart phones and tablets these days about the operating system and adapt Android. While most of the apps for the phone would be built using the HTML 5 technology.

How it will make way in the already so competitive market of phones is something to see. And what about the companies that Facebook had partnerships with to make it available through mobiles? It would be very interesting to see how Facebook maintains a friendly relation with all the other companies while trying to get a fair share for its very own phone!

The device you can see in the image above is a leaked HTC phone that is going to be called HTC Rider. It made an appearance on a chinese website thanks to Mr Blurry cam. We cannot tell anything else about this particular device but as you can see in the image above, it looks like a typical HTC device that is running Google’s Android. It also reminds us about a device HTC recently announced, i.e HTC Evo 3D because it looks like that a lot.
