VLC Media Player for iPhone hits AppStore

VLC Media Player for iPhone is now available for download at AppStore. The app was already available to iPad users. VLC App allows you to play almost all the video formats including .AVI, .MKV. It is simple to use, yet very powerful and extendable. VLC Media Player app has all codecs built-in. VLC is an Open Source player so go get your free copy now.

New features included in the version 1.1.0:

  • Runs on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and the latest iPod touches
  • You can now delete files from the application, without having to go through iTunes
  • Many more extensions are being recognized.
  • Much faster decoding thanks to assembly optimizations

    In case you are wondering, this is a big deal because a lot of pirated video content cannot be played with the iPhone’s built-in media player. But now it can! Odds are, if someone seems excited about this, that’s why.

    I’d have to agree with lee.  Just because it can play alternative sources that immediately means its meant for pirated material?  Do you even know what an mkv is vlcjs?  and in case you were wondering, vlc has built in codecs for processing subtitles that apples media player cannot.  Go away troll.
